Neddy and Shula

.
.
.
Find Neddy at the edge of town. On his way to Europe, he called in to town, looking for some action, and bumped into Shula, his old companion from the Munatafiq donkey division (Secret Intelligence unit no. 9). I try to persuade them to carry us onwards by offering them samples of the food that is available in the wilderness; they eat the samples but show no inclination to tramp across miles of inhospitable terrain in the company of unstable people. This is quite understandable, although irritating. Saying goodbye to Shula and arranging to meet Neddy in Europe, we hike back into the wilderness, offering toast after toast of Juan’s Special Reserve to the health and happiness of Shula, Neddy and all creatures burdened with having to put up with our inexplicable and occasionally maniacal behavior.
